Learn the design principles, containerization tools, and workflows that modern development teams use to ship reliable software.
You'll move from understanding why cloud native architecture exists to writing your own Dockerfiles and running containerized applications. By the end of the course, you'll have a working mental model of cloud native design and hands-on experience with the tools that make it real.

You'll learn why teams move away from monolithic systems and how cloud native principles — including the 12-Factor methodology — shape the way modern applications are designed and deployed.
You'll pull real images from Docker Hub, write your own Dockerfile, and build a container image for an actual application — not just follow along with slides.
You'll learn how to build applications that handle failure gracefully and expose the internal state teams need to monitor and debug software running in production environments.
You write application code but haven't worked with containers or cloud native infrastructure before. This course gives you the vocabulary and practical foundation to participate in cloud native teams and projects.
You understand programming basics but haven't been exposed to how software is packaged and deployed in professional environments. You'll leave with hands-on Docker experience and a clear picture of how modern software delivery works.
You're evaluating a move toward cloud native systems or onboarding a team to new practices. This course gives you a structured, practical introduction to the principles and tools involved — without the noise.
The course opens by establishing why cloud native architecture exists — tracing the shift from monolithic applications to microservices and naming the core problems that containers and modern design patterns solve. From there, you'll study cloud native application design in depth, including the 12-Factor App methodology, statelessness, and building for resilience. The second half of the course moves into containers directly: how they work, how Docker fits into the workflow, and how to write and build your own container image. Each module builds on the last, so you finish with both the design thinking and the technical skills to move forward.
Both labs are hands-on exercises run in a real Docker environment, not simulated environments or browser sandboxes. You'll start by pulling and running an official image from Docker Hub, then progress to writing a Dockerfile and building your own container image from scratch using the Docker CLI.
Destin Learning creates practical, project-driven courses for developers, IT professionals, and tech enthusiasts who want to build real skills — not just pass a certification exam.
Every course is built around hands-on labs, working code, and real-world tools. Our students learn by doing: writing programs, configuring systems, and solving problems in environments that mirror what they'll encounter on the job.
Our courses cover systems programming, Linux administration, cloud infrastructure, AI and machine learning, and foundational computer science — all taught with the same philosophy: understand it deeply, build it yourself, and know why it works.
